zoet

A man was running, stumbling, and gasping for breath as ferocious tiger chased him. Dashing for the edge of a cliff, he saw a vine. He desperately reached for the vine and in one last, bold leap swung himself over the cliff’s edge.

As he hung dangling down, he looked up and saw the growling tiger on the ledge above him. He felt a moment of relief as the tiger clawed the air but was unable to reach him. Then the man looked down. At the bottom of the cliff far below where he hung was another tiger! Tightening his hold on the vine, the man wondered what to do.

To his further dismay, he noticed two mice, one dark as night, one light as day, nibbling at the vine. He knew that it was only a matter of time before he would fall to the jaws of the tiger below. Just then, he noticed a wild strawberry growing on the face of the cliff.

Gripping the vine with one hand, he reached out with the other, plucked the strawberry from the cliff wall, and put it in his mouth. Never before had he realized how sweet a strawberry could taste.

Ecocide – Corporations on trial

Gepubliceerdop jun 25, 2018

“This meeting is not only a fight against a multinational company, it is a commitment to life and freedom. It’s all about stopping the big corporations, which are colonising our food system and our agriculture by enslaving our Mother Earth for their profit. (…) It is a fight for humanity and for the future of the planet.”

Nnimmo Bassey, Nigeria, author and environmentalist

The brochure ‘Ecocide – Corporations on trial’ originally published in Switzerland by the European Civic Forum is now available in English and Spanish. The first version that was available in printed version in French and German has been revised, and prefaced by Prof. Olivier de Schutter. The English and Spanish PDF version is a joint production of the European Civic Forum and the Monsanto Tribunal Foundation. It can be freely shared and printed. – en.monsantotribunal.org

There are no footprints in the sky;
You won’t find the sage out there.
The world delights in conceptual proliferation.
Buddhas delight in the ending of that.

There are no footprints in the sky;
You won’t find the sage out there.
There are no eternal conditioned things.
Buddhas never waver.

Dhammapada

In de lucht staan geen voetafdrukken;

In de lucht staan geen voetafdrukken;
Daar zul je geen wijze vinden.
Er zijn geen eeuwig vaststaande dingen.
Boeddha’s weifelen niet.

doe iets!

Lunchen is zelf één uur.

Iets niet-doen is iets doen.

vertrouwen

“The Dharma does not rise up alone – it can’t emerge without reliance on the world. If I take up the challenge of speaking, I must surely borrow the light and the dark, the form and the emptiness of the mountains and hills and the great earth, the call of the magpies and the cries of the crows. The water flows and the flowers blossom, brilliantly preaching without ceasing. In this way there is no restraint.”

Ziyong Chengru (17th ct.)
